The Mexican Election - Recent Polls
How reliable are polls today? Is AMLO still the undisputable front-runner for the July 2 presidential election? Is Felipe Calderon close to become the leader in this race? Is Madrazo virtually out of the race? What do you think?

Mexico-U.S. relations conundrum
The Economist's "Cross-border, cross-purposes" article, published in the Aug 25th 2005 edition, captures the essence of U.S.-Mexico relations today:
There are two visions and no strategy. Mexican election politics is getting in the middle of the way. Institutions are weakening. And we are wasting precious time.
"IF YOU ask any Mexican politician what his country's foreign-policy priority must be, the response is the same: maintain good relations with the United States and improve the lot of migrants heading north. But Mexico ranks far lower on the list of American policy aims. When asked what his government's priorities on the long border between the two countries were, an American official spoke of the threat of terrorism, adding “We have to protect our homeland above anything else.” At border crossings, American officials scrutinise passports for signs of a visit to the Middle East. These two different priorities, migration and security, are now colliding with cross-border politics and a wave of drug-related violence. "
